Loan Officer

The successful candidate has the ability to interview applicants to determine financial eligibility and feasibility of granting loans. A thorough knowledge of consumer lending practices and regulatory compliance is a plus.

Under the direction of the Compliance/Risk Management Director, and in accordance with established policies and procedures, preserves the credit union’s assets by conducting quality control inspections, preparing weekly, monthly and quality control audit reports, and providing administrative and clerical support. Maintain record keeping of audit finding, corrections and examiner reports. Maintain level of loan and account proficiency by keeping current in knowledge of laws, regulations and Credit Union policies. Responsibilities include providing internal review of file maintenance reports to verify all applicable policies and procedures are being followed within the organization. Additionally, this role will review and suggest additional controls to ensure improved safety for our members’ accounts. Director of Collections (Gautier)

Navigator Credit Union is currently recruiting for a motivated Director of Collections who has the drive to build strong relationships with members.  

DEPARTMENT: Collections/Payment Services Gautier, Mississippi

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The Director of Collections is responsible for overseeing the collection and recovery strategy of the credit union. This person needs to be knowledgeable at the operational level while maintaining a strategic mindset to ensure that company goals are being reached. This position will have full responsibility for all internal collections and outside 3rd party collections suppliers and their results. Additionally, the Director of Collections will manage debt sales and debt buyers, ensuring regulatory compliance in the process. The Director of Collections will also be responsible for the policy and procedural accountability for collections and recoveries. Furthermore, this position will work closely with corporate entities related to collections and develop/foster positive relationships with all corporate and business operations;  Lead the credit & collections team to continually achieve operational excellence and drive continuous improvement for collections, customer service and process improvements while managing the total delinquency cycle ranging from past due collection calling, skip tracing, outside collection agency coordination, debt sales and litigation activity.

REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE: Five to ten years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

SPECIFIC SKILLS: Must be a credit professional with a strong collection/disputes/cash application management operations background; Familiarity with collections tools, software and best practices; Strong customer service mindset and the ability to use collaborative and non-adversarial approaches in achieving goals and navigating complexity; Management experience including people development skills and leadership qualities; Must be proficient in business computer programs required to complete job functions; Must exhibit exceptional negotiation skills; and Must be able to work in a collaborative environment and present themselves in a professional manner at all times.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in this position.  Must be able to conduct in-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with internal and external members, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature.   Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on your own or as part of a team.  Must have able to maintain composure in stressful situations.  Must have knowledge of current collections and recoveries landscape. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process and reconcile ACH debits and credits
  • Process loan entries and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Maintain subsidiary records including payables, receivables, depreciation, pre-paids and accruals

Manage day-to-day human resource functions of the credit union; administer and monitor human resource programs and ensure compliance with credit union policies as well as external rules and regulations.
