------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
John Baker, MS Postal Employees FCU
Beginning his induction speech, Steven Vernamonti, MS Postal EFCU board member began by saying “total dedication” described Baker, adding “his hard work, faith and belief in the credit union philosophy ‘people helping people’ sets him apart.”
Baker has forty-one years of service on the MS Postal EFCU board of directors. During that time, he served as vice president for eight years and has held the position of board president for the past twenty-seven years. He served on the by-laws committee for the Mississippi Credit Union Association and was a nominating committee member for the National Council of Postal Credit Unions.
With his family gathered around him for the award presentation, Baker said “I come from a loving family and I love the credit union as my family...[the credit union] has been my pleasure and my life...I thank you from the bottom of my heart, I appreciate this more than you could ever know.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
George Kirby, Ferguson FCU
Kirby served for seven years on the Ferguson FCU credit committee before being elected to the board of directors in 1977. He proudly boasts he has been member of a credit union for fifty-six years and has attended thirty-nine consecutive MSCUA Annual Meetings.
In his induction speech for Kirby, Tony Davis, friend of Kirby & husband of FFCU staff member Becky Davis, equated Kirby’s dedication to an appreciation of things that are familiar and stand the test of time, saying “I’ve decided that I like things that have a history, a longevity, staying-power...things and people that just keep showing up.”
“Thirty-nine consecutive conventions without a miss...and we plan on doing some more!” said Kirby when accepting the award. “I want to thank everybody for this, I appreciate it.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lavina Robison, MS DHS FCU
Robison began her credit union service in 1969. She has managed two credit unions during her career and was an employee of the Mississippi Credit Union Association for seven years. She has held a variety of leadership roles with the Jackson Chapter of Credit Unions, as well as the Mississippi Credit Union Association board & various committees. Robison served the credit unions of Mississippi as a member of the MSCUA Board of Directors for twelve years, retiring from the board this year. During the mid-90s, she volunteered as a guest speaker at Florence High School helping teach youth financial literacy and money management principles.
Describing Robison as “a person who made a difference to the credit union,” George French, MS DHS FCU Board Chairman welcomed her into the MS Credit Union Hall of Fame as a “wonderful lady and dear friend.”
“The first thing I learned about credit unions was the ‘people helping people’ philosophy,” said Robison. “I’ve seen that every day working with credit unions for the past forty-two years. It is not only helping our members, it is helping our employees and helping other credit unions. It is just a truly wonderful career and movement I’ve been a part of. Thank you.”

Lt Col Dean Todd, USAF, Ret., Keesler FCU
Dedicated to credit unions for over thirty-eight years, Todd has held numerous credit union leadership positions at the local, state & national level. He has served on Keesler Federal Credit Union’s Board of Directors since 1973 and was elected to the Mississippi Credit Union Association Board of Directors in 2005. Since 1981, he has been active in the National Association of Credit Union Chairmen (NACUC). “Dean Todd’s life mirrors the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people,’” said Cindy Childers, Keesler FCU Board Chairman in her induction speech for Todd. “Civilian and military leadership has provided many fulfilling opportunities...whether he’s talking to a young airman recruit, to a wheel chair bound senior citizen or to a credit union member, he offers the same compassion for all.”
